Encounter with Hagop Hagopian Marks the Closure of Hagop Hagopian Exhibition at CCA

August 12, 2011
Within its Encounters with Art program the Cafesjian Center for the Arts presented famous Armenian artist Hagop Hagopian on August 11, 2011.

The event was dedicated to the closure of "Hagop Hagopian: The Song of Earthen Colors" exhibition at the Cafesjian Center for the Arts.

The invited literary and art critic Yervand Ter-Khachatryan presented Hagop Hagopian as an artist, emphasizing the important role of Hagopian’s art in Armenian culture.

The premiere of a documentary “The Song of Earthen Colors” followed Mr. Ter-Khachatryan’s speech. The documentary, produced by the Cafesjian Center for the Arts, disclosed the personality and the creative life of the Artist. After the film Mr. Hagopian himself was invited to the stage. He stated his gratitude to the Cafesjian Center for the Arts for organization of his exhibition and particularly to Mr. Gerard Cafesjian for establishing in Yerevan an arts center that can be compared to famous Pompidou Center in Paris.

The evening ended with pianist Hayk Melikyan and cellist Levon Arakelyan performing Richard Wagner’s Wesendock Lieder. The performance was accompanied by a projection of Hagop Hagopian’s works on a screen.
