International Child Protection Day Celebrated at the Cafesjian Center for the Arts for the Children of Armenia

June 02, 2011
Yerevan, Armenia, June 2, 2011 – The Cafesjian Center for the Arts welcomed over 80 thousands of visitors on June 1st to celebrate International Child Protection Day. This grand celebration gathered children from all over the country, uniting them around the main theme of the event - “The World is Yours”.

Co-sponsored by Gerard L. Cafesjian and the Cafesjian Center for the Arts, ArmenTel Company (Beeline brand) and World Vision Armenia, the event entertained thousands of children and adults and was held in partnership with Yerkir Media TV, Radio Van, State Fine Arts Academy of Armenia and “MGA Water” Company (“Clear Water” brand).

The festivities started at 17:00 when children were offered to participate in interactive arts and crafts activities guided by students of the State Fine Arts Academy, including drawing, pottery, batik, doll-making, creation of an “Art Planet”, music and dance.

“The Cafesjian Center for the Arts implements a number of programs for children – creative and educational in nature, and the annual celebration of Children’s Day follows this program line. We want our children to experience the excitement of art – by participating in our open-air workshops and by enjoying the concert program. The Cafesjian Center for the Arts seeks to make this day unforgettable for both children and their parents”, - stated Mr. Vahagn Marabyan, Executive Director of the Cafesjian Center for the Arts.

“The Children’s Day is yet another reminder to us, the adults that the future of our children depends on our attention and care today. Being a national operator, “ArmenTel” realizes its responsibility in bringing up Armenia’s new generation. It is this realization that leads us to implement numerous programs, helping children receive quality education, use new technologies, be involved with arts and culture”, said the Acting CEO of “ArmenTel” Alexander Sivolapov.

The concert program, dedicated to the International Child Protection Day, featured Mr. Boom, various children’s groups, the Armenian Jazz Band and numerous Armenian pop singers. The celebration culminated in a magnificent display of fireworks over the city of Yerevan.

The Cafesjian Center for the Arts is dedicated to bringing the best of contemporary art to Armenia and presenting the best of Armenian culture to the world. Inspired by the vision of its founder, Mr. Gerard L. Cafesjian, the Center offers a wide variety of exhibitions, derived from Mr. Cafesjian’s own extensive collection of contemporary art. Having celebrated its grand opening in November 2009, CCA continues to exhibit unique works of modern art and offers a diverse program of visiting lecturers, films, concerts, and numerous educational initiatives for adults and children. In 2010 the visitation to the Cafesjian Center for the Arts amounted to 950,000 people.
