International Child Protection Day at the Cafesjian Center for the Arts

May 29, 2019
Every year, on June 1, the Cafesjian Center for the Arts (CCA) celebrates International Child Protection Day by presenting a number of special events for visitors. The program of events will be particularly festive this year, as the Center also marks its 10th anniversary.  On this occasion, more than 200 schoolchildren, who celebrate their 10th birthday in 2019, will fashion a representation of the CCA 10th anniversary logo with balloons. In addition, the children will create flags featuring the Center’s artworks, as part of the “Your Flag” creative program.

Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in the newly launched educational project “Create Your Journey,” in which they can explore artworks exhibited at the Center, by completing a set of interactive assignments.

All visitors will also have an opportunity to stand behind the face cutouts installed at the Cafesjian Sculpture Garden and be photographed as flamboyant carnival characters. The cutouts were designed as part of the educational program "Spring Carnival," based on CCA’s 2016 exhibition, “Reflections,” for artist Robert Elibekian.

In addition, the TmbaTa Orchestra, one of the most popular youth folk rock bands in Armenia, will perform at an open-air concert in the Cafesjian Sculpture Garden. Immediately following the concert, children who are celebrating their 10th birthday this year, will recreate the CCA 10th anniversary logo with flashlights.

The visitors will also have an opportunity to purchase the selected Museum Store merchandise at 10% discount, while the members will have 20% discount.

A festive fireworks display will mark the end of the celebration.

The program “Your Flag” and the concert by the TmbaTa Orchestra are sponsored by Beeline. Beeline and the Cafesjian Center for the Arts have been cooperating since 2011. In the frames of this long-term cooperation, various educational programs are regularly implemented at the Center.
