CHARLES AZNAVOUR - THE ARTISTE AND THE ARMENIANMay 23, 2019 Chanson is always heartwarming, but songs composed and performed by Aznavour are particularly spellbinding. It was apparently this conviction that brought more than one hundred art lovers to the Special Events Auditorium of the Cafesjian Center for the Arts (CCA) on May 23. The recent event of the Encounters with Art program was dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Charles Aznavour.During the lecture titled CHARLES AZNAVOUR - THE ARTISTE AND THE ARMENIAN, Artsvi Bakhchinyan, philologist, translator, and member of the Writers’ Union of Armenia, presented interesting episodes from Aznavour’s life, touching upon the story of Aznavour’s ancestry, his childhood, and connections with the Armenian Cause and Armenia. Touching stories about the Armenian King of French chanson were occasionally interrupted by captivating melodies and episodes featuring Aznavour's movie roles, thus enabling the audience to rediscover the portrait of Aznavour.
