March 01, 2012
On March 1 the Sasuntsi Davit Garden Gallery of the Cafesjian Center for the Arts opened its doors to present Spring Motifs: A Selection from the Collection of the Museum of Russian Art exhibition to public.

In the evening of the same day a regular event in Encounters with Art series marked the opening of the exhibition. The event started at the exhibition gallery, where the visitors could admire the exhibited 23 paintings from the reserves of the Museum of Russian Art of Armenia (the Aram Abrahamyan Collection), united by the theme of women portraits and flowers, conveying the spirit of spring. The exhibition is the first in the program of inter-museum cooperation, launched by the Cafesjian Center for the Arts in 2012.

The guests were welcomed by the CCA Acting Executive Director Vahagn Marabyan and the Director of the Museum of Russian Art Anush Ter-Minasyan, who presented the exhibition as a joint effort of the two museums. During the second part of the program an expert in Russian art, the Head of Foreign Painting Department of the National Gallery of Armenia Irina Baghdamyan made a presentation of the main directions in the Russian art of 19th and 20th centuries. The lecture was followed by a concert of prominent Armenian musicians, performing Sergey Rachmaninov’s Trio Elegiaque.
