June 1 at the Cafesjian Center for the Arts

June 02, 2017
Children Unite the World

On June 1, the Cafesjian Center for the Arts with the sponsorship of Beeline Company in Armenia came up with a new initiative. The educational project engaged around 100 schoolchildren from five local schools -- Secondary School N 130 after Nairi Zaryan, Secondary School N2 after Mnatsakan Ghazaryan of Nor Kharberd, “Qvantum” College, “Yerevak” Educational Complex and QSI International School of Yerevan. The aim of the educational initiative was to unite the schools around one general research project by creating a platform of collaboration among the children of the expat community in Armenia and their fellow schoolchildren. The selected theme for 2017 was the STONE as artistic, archaeological and geological medium, as a shared substance by all mankind.

The project commenced in April 2017 and was carried out in two phases. The participant schoolchildren first were involved in a research project about the stone, in the scope of which they visited the Geological Museum after H. Karapetyan and History Museums of Armenia. Each class prepared a presentation on the theme around their selected topics, which were introduced at the Cafesjian Center for the Arts on 27 May, 2017.

The project concluded with the creation of the Earth mosaic-installation at the Cafesjian Sculpture Garden on 1 June 2017 and followed by contemporary street dance performances: hip-hop, break-dancing starting 19:00.
