Museum Night 2017 at CCA

On May 20 the Cafesjian Center for the Arts (CCA) celebrated the Museum Night, offering free admission to its galleries from 10:00 until midnight. The Center also presented special programming and creative educational initiatives in accordance with the theme of International Museum Day 2017, which is Museums and contested histories: Saying the unspeakable in museums.

CCA visitors had an opportunity to view the temporary exhibition, Multidimensional Rudolf Khachatryan in Eagle Gallery, closing on June 4, 2017. Within the scope of the exhibition, a new Educational Program Imaginary Windows was carried out for students and teenagers.

The major event for Museum Night at the Center was the opening of exhibition, 30 Steps to The 3-rd Floor -- a documentary presentation of The 3-rd Floor Artistic Movement in Sasuntsi Davit Garden Gallery at 16:00. The exhibition was organized within the scope of Cafesjian Teen Council educational project. 

Contested Stories: Interactive Social Screen project was carried out at the Center’s Star Landing on May 20 from 18:00 to 22:00. 

At the Special Events Auditorium free Film Screenings were offered to the public: 

• 14:00, 18:00 - Kind Trace (1980, documentary), Director: Ruben Gevorgiants.
• 14:30; 19:00 - Steel Gates (2010, documentary), Director: Armen Khachatryan. 

The International Council of Museums (ICOM) established International Museum Day in 1977 to increase public awareness of the role of museums in the development of society, and it has been steadily gaining momentum ever since. In 2015, International Museum Day garnered record-breaking participation with more than 35,000 museums hosting events in some 145 countries.
