The Cafesjian Center for the Arts Announces the Opening of its Inaugural Exhibition for 2015

March 11, 2015
The Cafesjian Center for the Arts announces the opening of its inaugural exhibition for 2015, a premiere presentation by Armenian contemporary artist Sahak Poghosyan, Silence of My Grandmother’s Eyes, which offers a special insight into the history of the Armenian Genocide and its lasting consequences.

At once personal and universal, the project, Silence of My Grandmother’s Eyes, was influenced by the untold story of the artist’s grandmother, who survived the Genocide. Like so many thousands of silent laments, unheard, here is one revealed with an artist’s grace and compelling force, never to be stilled again.

“This centenary year of the Armenian Genocide, 2015, the Cafesjian Center for the Arts joins the people of Armenia in commemoration of the nation’s survival of one of the darkest moments in the crucible of human history. Presenting this deeply moving work of Sahak Poghosyan, Silence of My Grandmother’s Eyes, we invite all to share in remembrance of what is lost and what remains and endures.” - said the Acting Executive Director of CCA Vahagn Marabyan.

The exhibition was organized in collaboration with the artist, Sahak Poghosyan, and the exhibition’s curator, art critic Nazaret Karoyan.
The exhibition dates are March 12 to May 31, 2015. Admission will be free from March 13 to15.
