The Cafesjian Center for the Arts Celebrated Museum Night

May 21, 2012
On May 19, 2012 the Cafesjian Center for the Arts (CCA) celebrated the Museum Night, by opening its galleries to the public till midnight for free.

The pivotal event for the Museum Night was the public opening of “Yerevan Collectors’ Choice” exhibition, which features a selection of works from the private collections of art historian Poghos Haytayan, painter Robert Elibekian and architect Oshin Yeghiazariantz. For the first time, this extraordinary selection of works celebrates the artists and their collectors, whose generosity in sharing their treasures with the public has made the exhibition possible.
This initiative of the Cafesjian Center for the Arts, to uncover Armenian private art collectors and to exhibit their collections, is unprecedented in Armenian reality. By assuming such a challenging project, the Cafesjian Center for the Arts is creating a unique cultural platform for private collectors to show their works in a museum setting and to once again establish the role of the private collector as a connoisseur and contributor in the preservation of our cultural heritage.
The programming of the CCA for the Museum Night included recently opened Swarovski Crystal Palace exhibition and the Cafesjian Crystal Tower sculpture on the Star Landing, as well as Polished Chrome Plated Air to Air Missile on the Sasuntsi Davit Terrace.
On 19-20 May, the CCA visitors had the last chance to see the Spring Motifs: A Selection from the Collection of the Museum of Russian Art exhibition and to participate in the last two workshops of the Reflections on Beauty and Harmony educational program.
On the occasion of Museum Night, the Armenian version of the official website of the Cafesjian Center for the Arts was launched.
