St. Vardanants Day

On March 4, 2011, Yerevan State University (YSU) Vardananq Military-patriotic Education Club, in partnership with the Cafesjian Center for the Arts, held a special event in CCA Khanjyan Gallery.

The event was organized to celebrate St. Vardanants Day, which commemorated General Vardan Mamikonyan and 1,036 of his fallen comrades-in-arms, who led the Armenian army against Persian invaders and died during the famous battle of Avarayr in the 5th century. The event was also dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the YSU Vardananq Military-patriotic Education Club, which was named after Holy Martyrs of Vardanants․ 

The CCA Acting Executive Director Mr. Vahagn Marabyan greeted the guests and opened the event. Father Asoghik Ter-Karapetyan, Director of Archives and Museums of Holy Echmiadzin, presented the history and the sacramental meaning of this holiday.

At the end of the event, the president of the Club, Mrs. Satenik Abrahamyan expressed her gratitude to the Cafesjian Center for the Arts for the kind support and the unique venue -- CCA Khanjyan Gallery.
